Dr. Joy Prabhakaran, a seasoned professional and researcher with a diverse educational and career background. Joy earned his B.Tech degree from the prestigious IIT Kharagpur (1984-1988), followed by an M.S. from Michigan Tech (1988-1989) and eventually completed his PhD at IIIT Bangalore (2012-2018). His primary research focus now lies in the realm of digital multimedia, with a specific emphasis on video technologies.
Over the course of his career spanning from 1989 to 2013, Joy held significant roles in a range of renowned companies, including C-DAC, Honeywell, Celstream, Technicolor, Xerox, and Yahoo. In a notable entrepreneurial venture, he successfully ran his own company, Techline, for an impressive decade.
Joy's passion for education extended beyond his professional endeavors. He has contributed to the academic community by offering semester-long courses at various engineering colleges such as CET and TKM in Kerala. His dedication to teaching was further exemplified during his tenure as an Adjunct Professor at IIIT Bangalore from 2011 to 2018 and as a Professor at KSIT from 2018 to 2022.
